Exosomes are the latest Buzz Word in the Skin Industry… they actually have a really important role in Medicine and are being used in clinical trials for neurological disorders, cancer diagnosis and treatment, cardiovascular disease, immune modulation, they are involved in drug delivery and Regenerative medicine.
They are tiny little vesicles released by cells, 1000 times smaller than a human pore, once thought to be dust/waste surrounding cells now identified as Exosomes; they can travel extreme distances to find their target and once they do they enter the cell deliver the genetic information and the repair, healing or rejuvenation occurs. They contain peptides, growth factors, RNA and amino acids and act as intercellular messengers, they are present from conception until death, they do not replicate and are present in all biological fluids.
They are “The Ambassadors of Repair” sending out the message Repair Don’t Destroy!
There are plant and animal derived exosomes which are great as antioxidants protecting human stem cells from free radial induced damage and repairing photo damage but they cannot replicate human stem cells and are unable to regenerate new cells in humans so they are limited. With so many exosome products on the market for professionals to choose from you as the client are dependant on their research and what they choose.
MSC- derived (mesenchymal stem cell) exosomes show clear potential in human application; enhancing collagen production types I,III, IV, VII and IX (most treatments only stimulate types I & III, regenerative collagen are IV, VII & IX), rejuvenating skin and promoting wound healing. There are not many companies being able to utilise these but the one I have chosen to work with does. The scientist behind them has managed to reverse engineer the process of exosomes taking the original sample from amniotic fluid, he created a Blueprint which he has used to biomimetically produce an immune tolerant fully synthetic exosome which is human compatible, he has seen exactly what is inside an Exosome and he has now been able to change it, removing anything not needed and adding ingredients to work on specific targets. He has won the Korean Noble prize four times and has four PHD’s.
There are two in-clinic products one for the skin and one for the hair, these are used during a microneedling procedure so the exosomes enter through the micro channels created.
The Exo-Skin product can help to treat ageing, Rosacea, acne, melasma, scarring and dyschromia, restoring your skin; giving you your skin back. This should be used alongside the homecare product options, to have the continued regenerative exosome benefits.
The Hair product has the in-clinic microneedling serum with the exosomes, growth factors, to stimulate hair growth but it needs to be used alongside the homecare products to achieve the results. Lifestyle and supplementation also need to be considered and adapted if necessary to achieve optimum results, this will be addressed in your consultation. Keratin is the most abundant protein in the human body outside of collagen, there are 20 amino acids that make up hair, they have put 17 amino acids in the hair microneedling serum, it contains 23 plant complexAs which are the B,C and D vitamins to support hair regeneration and Growth Factors responsible for fibroblast activity and PDRN a polynucleotide which stimulates hair follicles, improves blood circulation aiding the growth and thickness of the hair. A course of treatments is needed to stimulate the hair and encourage it to go in the Anagen stage, this will be continued with your homecare. To maintain this is going to require ongoing sessions either in clinic with the professional system or at home, as the risk is the hair loss may return if not.
If you would like to know how to incorporate Exosomes into your microneedling treatment then contact us and send me a message. Or if you would like any further information.
