Skincare in your 40’s

You should now have established a good skincare regime throughout your 20’s-30’s.

At this age moisture levels will be decreasing as your skin struggles to hold onto it.
So we need to make sure we are hydrating the skin efficiently.
Your products should include
Good Quality Cleanser
Hyaluronic Acid Serum
Retinol
Vitamin C
Broad Spectrum SPF (Non Negotiable)

This is all about increasing collagen production, hydration and protecting the skin.
Vitamin C provides an extra layer of protection as it is an antioxidant, this helps to neutralise Free radicals which damage our cells. We have water soluble as well as oil based Vitamin c serums so we can help find the right one for your skin type.

As your skin cell turnover has now slowed down it may appear duller or tired looking. we need to introduce different ingredients to help to remove dead skin cells and speed up cellular turnover.
Retinol is helping to stimulate your decreasing collagen and turn your cells over plumping the skin, we have different strengths so as you get older we can increase the strength allowing for better results.
AHA acids such as Lactic or Glycolic are great for removing the dead skin cells on the surface, giving a brighter more even complexion, but you need to be careful not to over exfoliate.

We have a big hitting anti ageing Ultimate Boost serum containing Matrixyl Synthe 6, a peptide to stimulate collagen and elastins, as well as containing Sodium Hyaluronate, a smaller molecule of hyaluronic acid which is able to penetrate the epidermis hydrating the skin. You might feel the need for an additional moisturiser to allow the skin to gain even more hydration.

If you need specific advice we can go through this in more detail during your skin consultation.
